How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'Catch The Wind' by Donovan

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Donovan tracks to try and understand what made Donovan tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Donovan's music. We then listened to the song 'Catch The Wind' byDonovan, a number of times to decide whether there were 'live' musicians playing the various parts of 'Catch The Wind'.

 

SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'Catch The Wind' by Donovan. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'Catch The Wind' by Donovan, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Donovan track 'Catch The Wind'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Donovan, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'Catch The Wind', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Donovan song ' Catch The Wind'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
