How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'Hard Knock Life' by Jay-Z

Creating a superb, Studio Quality, Professional Sound-a-like Karaoke, Playback, Backing Track is truly a musical challenge.

 

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Jay-Z tracks to try and understand what made Jay-Z tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Jay-Z's music. We then listened to the song 'Hard Knock Life' byJay-Z, a number of times to decide whether there were 'live' musicians playing the various parts of 'Hard Knock Life'.

 

SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'Hard Knock Life' by Jay-Z. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'Hard Knock Life' by Jay-Z, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Jay-Z track 'Hard Knock Life'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Jay-Z, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'Hard Knock Life', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Jay-Z song ' Hard Knock Life'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
