How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'Karaoke Queen' by Catatonia

Creating a superb, Studio Quality, Professional Sound-a-like Karaoke, Playback, Backing Track is truly a musical challenge.

 

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Catatonia tracks to try and understand what made Catatonia tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Catatonia's music. We then listened to the song 'Karaoke Queen' byCatatonia, a number of times to decide whether there were 'live' musicians playing the various parts of 'Karaoke Queen'.

 

SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'Karaoke Queen' by Catatonia. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'Karaoke Queen' by Catatonia, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Catatonia track 'Karaoke Queen'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Catatonia, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'Karaoke Queen', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Catatonia song ' Karaoke Queen'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
