How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'Nancy Boy' by Placebo

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Placebo tracks to try and understand what made Placebo tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Placebo's music. We then listened to the song 'Nancy Boy' byPlacebo, a number of times to decide whether there were 'live' musicians playing the various parts of 'Nancy Boy'.

 

SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'Nancy Boy' by Placebo. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'Nancy Boy' by Placebo, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Placebo track 'Nancy Boy'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Placebo, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'Nancy Boy', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Placebo song ' Nancy Boy'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
