How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'Shang-A-Lang' by Bay City Rollers

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Bay City Rollers tracks to try and understand what made Bay City Rollers tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Bay City Rollers's music. SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'Shang-A-Lang' by Bay City Rollers. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'Shang-A-Lang' by Bay City Rollers, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Bay City Rollers track 'Shang-A-Lang'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Bay City Rollers, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'Shang-A-Lang', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Bay City Rollers song ' Shang-A-Lang'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
