How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'Smooth Operator' by Sade

Creating a superb, Studio Quality, Professional Sound-a-like Karaoke, Playback, Backing Track is truly a musical challenge.

 

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Sade tracks to try and understand what made Sade tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Sade's music. We then listened to the song 'Smooth Operator' bySade, a number of times to decide whether there were 'live' musicians playing the various parts of 'Smooth Operator'.

 

SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'Smooth Operator' by Sade. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'Smooth Operator' by Sade, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Sade track 'Smooth Operator'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Sade, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'Smooth Operator', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Sade song ' Smooth Operator'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
