How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'The Word Girl' by Scritti Politti

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Scritti Politti tracks to try and understand what made Scritti Politti tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Scritti Politti's music. We then listened to the song 'The Word Girl' byScritti Politti, a number of times to decide whether there were 'live' musicians playing the various parts of 'The Word Girl'.

 

SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'The Word Girl' by Scritti Politti. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'The Word Girl' by Scritti Politti, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Scritti Politti track 'The Word Girl'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Scritti Politti, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'The Word Girl', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Scritti Politti song ' The Word Girl'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
