How SingMe.co.uk created a karaoke backing track for 'Vanilla Twilight' by Owl City

In this instance, the SingMe production team listened to many Owl City tracks to try and understand what made Owl City tracks sound so good! We gained an understanding of the musical genre associated with Owl City's music. We then listened to the song 'Vanilla Twilight' byOwl City, a number of times to decide whether there were 'live' musicians playing the various parts of 'Vanilla Twilight'.

 

SingMe producers studied the rhythm section - Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards on 'Vanilla Twilight' by Owl City. They also listened out for 'live' strings, orchestra, brass licks and woodwind, such as flute and saxophone.

 

Wherever there were 'live' instruments on 'Vanilla Twilight' by Owl City, the SingMe production team used the very best professional session musicians to create an Instrumental, Playback, Karaoke Version Backing Track. We then overdubbed all the orchestral and brass parts until the track sounded very close to the original Owl City track 'Vanilla Twilight'.

 

The SingMe team then researched its very best session singers to find singers with voices similar to Owl City, to sing backing vocals and harmonies on 'Vanilla Twilight', where needed. We then recorded a singer who was really excellent at sounding like the lead singer or vocalist on The Owl City song ' Vanilla Twilight'. This singer created the Vocal Guide (VG). (The Vocal Guide is simply the Backing Track plus the Lead Vocal sung by a professional session singer to sound similar to the original Artist.)
